[livejournal.com profile] penumbra wrote an incredible post on why some people in the fandom are not big Chloe fans. Those who do really like her will probably not like this, but for everyone else:

a post about chloe sullivan

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] kali921 for the gift, and [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13 and [livejournal.com profile] svgurl for the birthday wishes.

I got a new Smallville and Tom on my screen, so it's been a decent day.

I think I'm fairly offended by this 'critique' of the Anti Life Equation, and Clark's character' posted in the sv-critique comm by someone who has said on her own journal more than once that she does not watch the show. And, AFIAK, doesn't read comic canon.

IF I was smarter and presented my arguments better, I'd take her on. Anyway, here it is.

Soooo.

About halfway through the summer semester and oh my god the writing stuff is killing me again, and the reading, and that's just English. Our instructor is treating it like a grad level course, so yeah, brain dead a lot.

And I'm falling behind in my journalism class cause im so tired from the other one. Mental note: CATCH UP WOMAN.

Okay. Speaking of that, I am totally caught up with Warehouse 13, my new favorite scifi show that isn't Smallville. Allison, who plays Claudia? SO. ADORABLE.

To the point where I'm starting to ship her and Clark. Because she's so adorable and cute and usually means well and is relentless in trying to get what she wants without being wimped out as a character.

Also: Pete/Myka forever, man.

This brings my total current shows to three (Smallville, Castle and now W13). Clearly I need to watch more tv. Or something.

In SV related news....

HUGE BIG SPOILER AT THIS LINK

over which I am squeeing my leetle heart over. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] canadabear for the head's up.

Summer vacation has commenced in Chez Kati-and-family. The kids are enjoying their freedom and looking forward to doing as many outdoor activities as humanely possible before school starts up again.

Um. Yeah.

Pls send help.

Beer and chocolate is preferred. Smallville and/or Tom happenings are also good 'care package' ideas.

I've also finished watching Obscura in the Great Rewatch project, but the English class I'm taking this summer is kinda killing my ability to meta at the moment. Hopefully I can write up something once S1 is over.

I've only seen it once, and this is a 'by the seat of my pants' reaction, so if I missed things or got something wrong, it's okay to let me know. It's just that I have to get what I'm thinking down on paper somewhere so I don't continue to stew.

I cannot believe the cojones of some people. Yesterday, several of the publicity people at WB/CW were tweeted by a small group of so-called fans in an effort to get a spoiler source fired. [livejournal.com profile] duskwillow has a good run up here, and I agree with pretty much everything she said. I've been debating speaking up all morning, because I do have Chlark and Chlois friends, but what was done yesterday is so unbelievable I don't feel right not saying something about it. So here goes:

Trying to get a real person fired from their real life job over a fictional television show based on a comic book whose romantic end game has been known for seventy years is one of the stupidest, most vicious stunts I have ever seen in my life. I've seen better behavior from elementary school students, and they don't have years upon years of societal training to know that's a crappy thing to do.

Did your parents not teach you right from wrong? Seriously? Everyone has a right to their own opinion, I absolutely believe it. You can hate Chloe, or Lois, or Tess or whoever all you want, and write lots of sub-par fan fiction around whatever pairing you prefer, but the minute your opinion infringes on someone else's life? That's what that thing we like to call common sense is supposed to kick you in the butt and say, "Hey, wait a minute. Is this a really good idea?"

In conclusion: Your mama did not raise you right if you think that getting someone fired over a tv show because the plot isn't going your way is a productive use of your time.

And to make things clear for my flist - here is where I stand on Smallville shipping in general.

Ship: Clark/Lois, Clark/Dinah, Oliver/Dinah, Oliver/Lois, Lois/Tess, and Chloe/George.

Don't ship: Clark/Chloe, Clark/Lex (just can't make myself slash them, sry), or Chloe/Oliver.

But I don't mind discussing the show, or ships in general, with people who actually watch it and want intelligent debate. If you come here looking for trouble, I have no problem telling you to go find another playground.

So lets all try to be polite and stop making the entire fandom look like loons.

Because I keep forgetting to do this, and the news out of Chitown today makes me nervous for my beloved Cubbies.

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs, whose 101-year title drought is the longest in American sport, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday in a move to help the Major League Baseball team's ownership change. full story here

I don't know if this means they're taking the team away from Wrigley, or what, but I'm gonna be on pins and needles until the new owners reveal their plans (Stay at WRIGLEY, people. Just sacrifice a damn goat or something).

The kittens left on Saturday and I miss the one nicknamed Lois. She was so lovely and loving.

And speaking of Lois, I am psyched over the new season of Smallville so far, even though there was less Clark than usual in the first two eps, like I've seen mentioned on other journals. But he's so Supermanly these days, I'm quietly squeeing like the crazy DC fangirl I am.

In regards to the other cast, Lois is awesome, and I think she's supposed to be going overboard on the Blur worship because she doesn't have another outlet for how she feels about Clark.

Oliver continues to head towards rock bottom. He's not quite there yet, because I think he's still in denial about his actions at the end of last season (and still waiting for a real apology to Big Blue there, Arrow. If not, I hope Dinah kicks your ass) and since Clark is running circles around him in regards to being a hero and a stand-up guy, I can wank his behavior as jealous. Especially around Lois, who isn't "busting his chops" anymore in a girlfriend capacity.

Chloe ... she's winning me back just a little, due to her interaction with Emil, who is kind enough to bring up problems he sees with some of her behavior. And I think they'd almost make a cute couple.

Zod! Callum makes me love Zod more and more every time he's on screen. I can't wait for his first encounter with Clark. And Tess rocked her scenes. As a long time Highlander, I can never get enough of swordplay, especially when sexy women wield them.

But in a good way! The new trailer for SV is linked below, under the cut. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13 for pointing it out.

I'm currently trying to debate (over on TWoP) the released photos of the deleted Chlark scene in "Injustice" , where Clark finds Chloe in the bathtub, turns off the water, and wraps a towel around her.

On the surface, it's obviously something a friend would do. Or, really, anyone who cared about people. Chloe seems to be displaying worrying behavior, even if it actually isn't her, and as her BFF, Clark should do something about it. Apparently from a Chlark-shipping perspective, it is the most romantic thing evah, and everything about it is tinged with UST, which admittedly I don't see. Basically, what I understand Chlarkers are saying is that Clark is only doing this because he's secretly in love with Chloe.

Am I understanding that right? Clark only does Supermanly or caring stuff because he's secretly in love with whoever he's helping? Because that can apply to every single person he's saved, or been a friend to on this show. Or the entire world, in general.

Fandom, I love you. Really. But please stop making my head hurt.

Okay, so this broke this morning and I've been squeeing ever since:

Tom is going to appear at Comic Con on Sunday.

and then [livejournal.com profile] cloiser_trish just broke THIS:

Series star and co-executive producer Tom Welling will make his first-ever appearance at the world’s greatest pop culture convention...

http://thewb.com/blog/blog/tom-welling-of-smallville-attends-comic-con-for-the-first-time/#more-3979

FINALLY. I can't stop capslocking or making loud verbal whoops. My kids think I'm insane now but whatever.

Anyone on my flist at CC this weekend needs to take lots and lots of pictures if they get into the SV panel.

GO TOM. GO CLARK.

TWoP is giving me ulcers right now with their Lois bashing, so I wandered over to Ksite and found this little gem. Don't have much to say beyond it, really, except WORD to the work that went into it. And that I agree with it all. Chloe is Chloe and Lois is Lois.
